“Carrie is a teenager suffering from puberty, social isolation, bullying, hyper-religious familial abuse, and budding telepathic powers. When one remorseful student helps Carrie get a sincere date for prom, other bullies make plans that ruin Carrie’s night. Carrie uses her powers to exact revenge on all of the students and plans to inflict retribution against her abusive mother. I was motivated to illustrate this work because teen bullying and its subsequent isolation lead to destructive episodes and is not an uncommon scenario in the world today.”
Carrie is an adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, Carrie. This was created for Cori Pagaling’s Junior Project at the School of Visual Arts and displayed in the gallery show “Crime and Punishment” in Spring 2015. It was drawn with traditional inking.
